How much compensation can I get for a delayed flight?
Under EU261 it's €250 (short flights up to 1,500 km), €400 (1,500–3,500 km) or €600 (over 3,500 km), based on distance — not on what you paid. UK261 pays £220 / £350 / £520. A 3–4h delay on a long-haul flight is paid at half.
When am I entitled to compensation?
When you arrive 3+ hours late, or your flight is cancelled with under 14 days' notice, and the cause was within the airline's control (not weather or an air-traffic strike). The flight must leave the EU/UK, or arrive there on a European/British airline.
Do I have to pay to claim?
